| Christina James Nielsen works in wire practice encompasses drawing, sculpture and painting. By using the unruly medium of wire she brings an intriguing perspective to picture-making. James Nielsen’s mixed-media pieces are framed and have a domestic sensibility. The narrative environment and spatial compression within her work bring to mind Matisse’s drawings. Underpinning Christina’s work is a witty playfulness. Her unframed wire works are light and delicate two-dimensional sculptures. These pieces are displayed to best effect on plain white walls. ‘I aim to let the sensitivity of the line quality express mood… I bend to the nature of the material as much as the material bends to the nature of my ideas.’ Represented by: Galleri Rasmus, Odense, DK L'Astree, Grignan, France New Blood Art, London, UK Resumé Born: 1974 in Kerteminde, Denmark Education: 1996-1999 Creative Arts Derby University UK, BA Hons.
